Network Strategy Specialist Roundtable
At SGN, one of our core objectives is to deliver and maintain a safe and reliable gas pipe network for all our customers.
A fundamental part of our planning process is to continuously listen to our customer and stakeholder views, using them to inform our plans and acting on them where we can.
In this workshop, specialist stakeholders from within our network came together to hear about our progress against the commitments we made for the current 2021 – 2026 Gas Distribution price control period (RIIO-GD2). Stakeholders had the opportunity to tell us what they thought was working well and where they think we should be focussing resource, time and money in our plans for the 2026 – 2031 price control (RIIO-GD3).

Key insights
Stakeholders want to see investment levels maintained or increased to ensure the current levels of safety are continued and that improvements are made where needed.
Gaining certainty over the future of the network and investment in developing the right skills to maintain safety and reliability are important to some stakeholders, especially those in the utility sector.
There is strong support for proactive replacement of mains pipes outside of the mandatory requirements. This support also encompasses the use of new technologies to help detect leaks and manage workforce planning, in support of maintaining safety standards.
